Recipe Ingredients

* Processed Rice Flour - 1 cup

* Roasted Urad Dal Flour - 1 1/2 cup

* Chana Dal - 1 tsp

* Refined Oil - for deep frying

* Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp

* Asafoetida (Hing) - A Pinch

* Butter - 1 tsp

* Baking Soda - A Pinch

* Salt to taste

Preparation

First soak chana dal for 10 minutes and drain. Sieve rice flour and mix it with urad dal powder in a bowl.

Blend in the butter and required salt, red chilli powder, asafoetida and chana dal. Add water gradually and prepare a stiff smooth dough. Divide and roll into small balls. Spread a white cloth and flatten each ball into a circular shape on it, by patting slowly with your fingers.

Make the discs as thin as possible and prick with a needle or fork to make tiny holes on them.

Heat oil in a kadai (wok) and deep fry a few at a time till golden brown. Remove from kadai and keep aside for serving.
